Victory!

Nottingham Trent University celebrated a 2-0 victory against its longstanding rival, the University of Nottingham, after a fierce football derby at Greenwich Avenue Stadium, Nottingham on Wednesday, March 30.

Varsity

The match was held as a part of "Varsity", an annual series of sports competitions with 20 years of history that saw the two (and only) universities in the city competing against each other.

Possession

Tom Jones, Nottingham Trent University's midfielder, managed to keep possession of the ball against the University of Nottingham's defenders as both sides sought to dominate the game in a goalless first half

GOALLLLLLL

Jack Gibson, Nottingham Trent University's striker, took the lead for his team with a penalty at 47' after his teammate Archie Galley was pushed to the ground in the box by the opponents.

Frayed Nerves

Three players from the University of Nottingham received a yellow card for multiple fouls in the second half, as they were getting more aggressive to recover lost ground after their opponents claimed a 2-0 lead.

Getting Physical

Tensions were running high in the last minutes of the game. As the University of Nottingham was desperately looking for a goal to save face, its opponent remained dominant with a 2-0 lead.

Final Minutes

Players from Nottingham Trent University tried to kill time by slowing down in the last minutes of the game.

Left No Stone Unturned

Players from the University of Nottingham tried their very best to control the game and pull off a comeback.
